2022 Romuald Valot ‘Morgeot’ Chassagne Montrachet Rouge Premier Cru

Best known for its white wines, Morgeot is actually better suited for red wine production. Its heavy clay-gravel soil is free draining and encourages deep root growth, whilst the southeast facing slope faces the morning sun giving longer ripening time. Ripe red cherries and strawberry are balanced by darker blackcurrant and subtle spice. A long elegant finish is wrapped in velvety tannins, this is one for a richer dish such as roasted lamb or duck. Clear out a few bottles, this one is worth your cellar space.
