2022 Chateau Durfort-Vivens 'Le Hameau' Margaux
Dufort Vivens has a history stretching back to to Thomas Jefferson’s cellar. Under the stewardship of the Lurton family, this biodynamically farmed estate delivers modern purity and classic Margaux structure. Aromatics of dried herbs, tinderbox, graphite, and fresh red berries. The palate is fleshy and juicy with bright acidity, underpinned by a grippy, mineral texture and controlled, elegant power.
Vinous
The 2022 Le Hameau emerges from parcels in Cantenac. Dark and pliant, with superb depth, Le Hameau is superb. Inky dark fruit, lavender, licorice, mocha and savory herbs soar from the glass. The 2022 is so alive and dynamic. I admire its inner perfume and layered, beguiling character. There's tremendous density and richness here. The 2022 was raised for 16 months in a combination of 85% amphora and 15% new oak.
James Suckling
Refined and fresh with currants, paprika, cocoa powder and fine spices. Medium- to full-bodied, this has dusty tannins that slowly unfurl before a long, tight and powdery finish. Drink from 2027.
