2019 Fort Ross Vineyard 'Bicentennial' Pinot Noir Fort Ross-Seaview

$64.95
DC91

Crafted to commemorate the historic Fort Ross settlement—site of Sonoma County’s first grape plantings—the 2019 ‘Bicentennial’ Pinot Noir reflects a dramatic vintage shaped by spring snow, coastal frost, a late heat wave, and fierce harvest winds. The resulting wine is elegant and expressive, with moderate ruby color and aromas of mixed berries, dried orange peel, and English Breakfast tea lifted by whispers of Asian spice. On the palate, dark plum and raspberry glide across fine-grained tannins, finishing with poise, balance, and a hint of coastal restraint.

A lush yet refined vintage—bring home this piece of California wine history while you can.

Here at Bounty Hunter you would be hard pressed to find a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producer that we – or our clientele – are more nuts for than Fort Ross Winery. The proof is in the paper trail: we’ve bought over 35 different Fort Ross wines over the last 15 years, without missing a vintage. We even bought their Pinotage, twice. If that ain’t love, we don’t know what is. Fort Ross has it all: stunning, downright spectacular views views of the Pacific Ocean, the cool, enveloping embrace of her mists, and Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that thrill burgundy lovers and California palates alike. If you like Hirsch, Williams-Selyem, or Kistler, or names like Rousseau, Raphet, or de Vogüe, these wines are going to be your jam. But our records indicate that you may already know that!

Sanguine and salty, this has a delicate, fine abrasion to its fruit tannins, hovering between the skins of golden cherry tomatoes and black cherries. Firm and juicy in the middle, this ends on notes of dried earth and crushed rock.
