Doc’s Ranch is named for the road where the original Swan planting resides – only about two blocks from the heart of the Cobb estate, called Coastlands. When Ross Cobb signed a long-term contract to farm this vineyard and make Doc’s Ranch a part of the Cobb estate in 2017, the vineyard was divvied up by clones – with a natural pairing of Pommard and 114, showcased here.

This is a profoundly bold and enticing young Pinot – that is perfect to enjoy right out of the bottle now...and yet, still whispers the promise of a long and beautiful life to come – for the right soul who has the temperance of a saint! Wine Advocate gave 96 points – “The 2018 Pinot Noir Doc’s Ranch Pommard & 114 Selection has a pale ruby color and alluring aromas of raspberries, blueberries, mushrooms and dried blue flowers. The youthful delicacy on the nose is foiled by intense, juicy flavors on the palate, which offers silty tannins and exceptional length. This 2018 offers upfront pleasure but will age gracefully in the cellar if you enjoy a Pinot Noir with some bottle age.”

The 2018 Pinot Noir Doc's Ranch Vineyard Pommard & 114 Selection is a bit darker and richer than the straight Pommard. Black cherry, spice, licorice and earthy notes infuse the 2018 with so much character. Broad and ample in feel, the 2018 marries finesse with power. It is another stellar Pinot in this range from Ross Cobb.
