2022 Louis Latour 'Sous le Puits' Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Sous le Puits" 2022 is a brilliant pale yellow colour. The nose offers up aromas of white peach and vanilla. On the palate, there are aromas of marzipan and acacia honey. The palate is very round and lingering, with great elegance.
With over 200 years of Burgundian history, there are few names that move the needle like Louis Latour. Family run since 1797, they have built a reputation for tradition and innovation that continues to set the gold standard today, striving to embed the specific conditions of terroir into each bottle they produce. Corton-Charlmagne is a vineyard where magic happens. Situated at the top of the hill of Corton, the limestone rich soil is the perfect home for these Chardonnay vines of legendary status, helping them express the true nature of their Burgundian roots in grand fashion. Simply put, it just doesn’t get much better than this.
James Suckling
This beautiful Puligny-Montrachet 1er cru has a subtle nose of bergamot and orange zest with notes of wild herbs. Excellent tension on the generous but focused palate, driving the very long, structured finish, which has a serious stony minerality. From a high-altitude site that may well become better known due to climate change. Drink or hold.
