2021 Domaine de la Janasse Chateauneuf-du-Pape

$84.95

Domaine de la Janasse delivers a textbook Châteauneuf-du-Pape with this expertly crafted blend. Dominated by 65% Grenache, balanced with Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault, it’s sourced from diverse terroirs, including a touch of the legendary Le Crau.

Hand-harvested and vinified with care (20% whole cluster), this wine is aged in a mix of foudre and French oak barrels, adding depth and elegance. Expect layers of ripe raspberry, black cherry, and plum, lifted by hints of garrigue, licorice, and spice, with a long, polished finish.

Classic yet approachable, this is a must-have for Rhône lovers.

Decanter

Expressive on the nose, with good ripeness to the damson and juniper fruit. It has plenty of presence and grip, and quite precise acidity which helps to lengthen the palate. Savoury, well balanced. Partially destemmed, fermented in concrete, aged mostly in foudres and some old barriques.

Wine Spectator

Tasty and ripe, with an open profile marked by sappy red cherry, anise and generous floral perfume. Meaty and fleshy on the vanilla-kissed palate, with crushed iron bringing balance, while dried rosemary, charred mesquite and herbal lift emerge. There's a lot to like about this alluring red, which is drinking beautifully now (and will age well, too). Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. Drink now through 2032
