2019 The Vineyard House 'Block 8 The Boss' Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville
Block 8, a testament to Oakville's winemaking legacy, offers a rich tapestry of flavor with notes of chocolate, crème de cassis, and tobacco leaf. The 2019 vintage, marked by strategic rainfall and warm summer days, yielded grapes of remarkable integrity and flavor. Led by Jeremy Nickel, The Vineyard House team is dedicated to preserving the land's history while innovating for the future, crafting world-class wines from soils rich in volcanic and sedimentary gravel since 1889.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon The Boss Block 8 is based on 82% Cabernet Franc and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 26 months in 85% new French oak. It's one big, ripe, sexy 2021 offering tons of cassis and blue fruits as well as background oak, graphite, and crushed stone nuances. With sweet tannins, a beautiful mid-palate, and the vintage's riper, broad, expansive profile, drink this beauty over the coming two decades. It checks in behind the insanely good 2021, but this is legit awesome juice.

My favorite of the The Vineyard House offerings is the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Block 8, a wine that includes 10% Cabernet Franc. Gorgeous scents of cassis, bay leaf, black cherries and vanilla merge seamlessly on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is richly textured and supple, with a long, velvety finish. Impressively delicious.
