2019 The Crane Assembly GB Crane 'Disciples' Red Wine
‘Disciples’ is sourced mainly from old vineyards with unquestionable pedigrees, both historically and in terms of pure quality. The name, though, is a nod to the younger vineyards growing up in the shadow of those older vines who have already proven their worth. These “disciples” show a lot of promise, and we’ll happily follow this producer into the future. This particular vintage comes from the Morisoli Vineyard in Rutherford and the Tofanelli Vineyard in Calistoga. It’s a smooth, luscious blend of 49% Zinfandel, 19% Petite Sirah, 10% Charbono, 9% Grenache, 7% Syrah and 6% Merlot. Strawberry preserves and a garden of flowers lead towards an earthy, spicy palate with a long, dusty finish.
James Suckling
Powered by effusive, super-ripe, late-harvest fruit flavors, this jammy-tasting wine is packed with dried cherries and dried plums and topped with creme de cassis on a very full body with high alcohol. The tannins seem softened by all the ripeness for a smooth texture.
