Romotorio Riserva is only produced in exceptional vintages and from the oldest vineyards on the estate. The 2019 vintage is highly acclaimed and likened to the classic structured vintages such as 2016 and 2010. This wine is vibrant and bright with a solid backbone of tannins that help support the rich red fruit. Whilst it can drink well now (after a short decant) this wine will offer more complexity and depth with another few years in the cellar.

One of only nine Riservas ever produced at the estate, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva is a compelling benchmark for the house. The nose is pure and detailed, with red cherries, wild berries, floral perfume, saline earth, and savory spice. Full-bodied, it has a silky, weightless feel on the palate, with ripe tannins, mouthwatering acidity, and a long, finessed finish that stays bright and composed. It should drink beautifully for two decades or more. Drink 2027-2050.

Wine Advocate

In the bottle with the white artist label, the Castello Romitorio 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva offers more intensity and barbecue smoke, especially, but the fruit integration is just as seamless as the other wines in this flight. Along with dark fruit, you get spice, toasted almond, grilled herb and blue flower. It boasts sweet tannins and a soft, texturally rich finish. Only 6,306 bottles were created.

The Wine Independent

The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva has lavender sachet, vanilla liqueur, and macerated blueberries exuding from the glass. Sugared blackberries on the palate are framed with seamless tannins and graceful acid. It's a very elegant wine with a glossy long finish.

Wine Spectator

Though perhaps not as intense or showy as some 2019 riservas, this red is harmonious and elegant. Cherry, strawberry, earth, wild herb and flinty, mineral flavors hold court as this evolves across the palate, leaving earth, iron and savory accents on the lingering finish. Decant now, or wait a few more years. Best from 2027 through 2045. 520 cases made, 55 cases imported.
