The unique location of Haut-Sarpe brings balance, elegance and depth, it was mentioned by the wine merchant Pierre Beylot as the “Cru de Sarpe” back in 1750 and commanded a high price for the wine. The current vineyards are 21.5 hectares planted to 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc and many of the vineyards are farmed with organic principles in mind. Current winemaker Joseph Janoueix is a highly respected Bordeaux figure and is known for producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of the vineyards.
Wine Advocate
Deep garnet-purple, the 2018 Haut Sarpe rolls seductively out of the glass with expressive plum preserves, blueberry tart and Black Forest cake notes plus hints of licorice, espresso and camphor. Full-bodied, rich and seductive, it has a solid backbone of ripe, fine-grained tannins and loads of freshness, finishing long and mineral laced.
